We will definitely be answering your questions again soon! In the meantime, here are some of our most-asked questions, answered!

Q1: How long should the serums 2 and 3 last? I feel I’m too generous with them 😬

Skingredients Skin Veg and Skingredients Skin Protein are happiest when used in conjunction with one another. We recommend cocktailing them together!

We recommend a half a pump of each serum applied to damp skin in order to make it go a little further. Each serum should last you approximately 8 weeks if using morning and evening.

Q2: What’s best for congested bumpy skin?

Congested and bumpy skin might need a multi-pronged approach in order to tackle the issues at play which are causing the congestion, lumps, and bumps.

When it comes to congested skin, our go-to is usually Skingredients Sally Cleanse.

This is a targeted, treatment cleanser which we would suggest you can work up to using three evenings a week. It packs a powerful punch, so it’s important to be careful and only use as directed!

Sally Cleanse contains 2% salicylic acid, the highest percentage available for purchase in the EU.

Salicylic acid is an oil-soluble acid, meaning it cuts through oil and dissolves debris in pores – like excess oil, SPF, makeup – anything which might otherwise block the pores and lead to congestion.

If you’re suffering from congested skin, this is a useful treatment, but it works best alongside an effective skincare routine!

The Core 4 all together can be helpful in tackling congestion. PreProbiotic Cleanse is a hydrating daily cleanser, suitable for use every morning and on your Sally-free evenings! Don’t be afraid of the word hydrating here – congested skin still needs hydration!

Skingredients Skin Veg is a hydrating, anti-ageing serum which can gently, gently exfoliate your skin, and contains a host of antioxidants, which can help to bring down skin inflammation.

Skingredients Skin Protein is an anti-ageing serum which contains introductory amounts of vitamin A. This is an antioxidant which helps to regulate sebum production – very important when trying to ward off congestion and breakouts. It also contains vitamin C, which is particularly important for skin texture.

Skingredients Skin Shield SPF 50 PA +++ is an SPF protective daily cream, which contains the antioxidant vitamin E, and protects against broad-spectrum UV rays. It’s suitable for all skin types – even those hoomans who are oily or congested.

Q3 What’s the best product to reduce redness?

Redness or inflammation in the skin can result from many causes. Sometimes, it can occur as a result of conditions such as rosacea or eczema. In these cases, we would recommend speaking to your GP before using new products.

However, redness can simply be a fact of life. When it comes to bringing down a glow that’s getting a bit too rosy, our recommendation would be Skin Veg and Skin Protein

Both of these products are serums. This means that they have a small molecular size and can penetrate deeply into the skin to effect change.

Skin Veg is a hydrating, highlighting serum which contains antioxidants galore, like tomato extract, broccoli extract, and liquorice root extract, too. These all help to fight the free radicals introduced into our bodies as the waste product from chemical reactions! Antioxidants help to fight inflammation, which is good news if you’re trying to reduce redness.

Skingredients Skin Protein is an A, C, and E Serum, meaning it contains a whole pack of antioxidants. When it comes to reducing redness, vitamin C has the top spot. This is an effective vitamin at reducing inflammation and evening out skin tone, too.

Skingredients Skin Good Fats also contains a patented anti-itch ingredient as well as soothing shea butter glycerides which can help to reduce irritation and inflammation in the skin.

You can use both of these serums together, cocktailed in the palm of your hand, or applied one after the other, and apply Skin Good Fats after them, and before SPF!

Q 4 Can you use AHAs or BHAs every day?

For the slightly less nerdily-minded amongst us: AHAs are alpha hydroxy acids, and BHAs are beta hydroxy acids.

AHAs like glycolic acid, lactic acid, or mandelic acid to name a few, are water-soluble exfoliating acids. They are generally derived from sugary fruits. They help to exfoliate the top layer of the skin, removing dead skin cells.

BHAs are acids such as salicylic acid. These are oil-soluble exfoliating acids, which can penetrate more deeply into the pore and dissolve buildup of debris which might otherwise lead to breakouts or congestion.

It’s important to check the directions on your particular product and, much like you would your skin, respect it!

In Skingredients, our AHA Cleanse, which is undergoing reformulation, is generally suitable for use every night.

However, our Sally Cleanse is a BHA cleanser with salicylic acid. It is only recommended for use every third night, as otherwise skin may become irritated or over exfoliated.

Q5 How long do you leave Sally on as a mask?

Leave Sally Cleanse on for two minutes, when applied to cleansed skin once a week! Then, cleanse it away with a damp Cleanse Off Mitt, or tool of your choice.

Q6 Should I lock in Skingredients SPF with a moisturizer in the morning?

Here’s a common q, and it’s all about product ordering!

Your SPF should be the very last product applied to your skin. The only thing that should come after it is your makeup, if you choose to wear it.

You don’t need anything on top to ‘lock it in’. It’s locked in just by applying it correctly: half a teaspoonful in tapping movements over your entire face, ears, lips, neck…

If you need an extra moisturising boost, then we recommend Skin Good Fats, which you can apply post-serum and pre-SPF if you like!

Please don’t put anything on top of your SPF – depending on the product or the method of application, it can make your SPF less effective, but makeup is fine!
